Alright, here are the general rules and guidelines for the earth3006 forum. We take the rules seriously, but we really just want everyone to have fun. Following these rules will ensure that everyone on the board has a good time. Please take some time to read all of them…it might save you some trouble later.
Rules of Conduct:
The creators of this forum are Christians. We will not require that you believe in our religion, but we will require that you adhere to our rules of conduct.
--Respect: Since we will have many different people on this forum, we will obviously have many different viewpoints. Please avoid casting dispersions on either a person or his/her viewpoint. Try to avoid topics which generate strong feelings like politics and doctrine. Offenders will be warned and then be subjected to the standard penalties (see the Penalties thread in the Rules Board).
--Plagiarism: We will be running a type of GURPS (Generic Universal Role-Playing System) RPG. All spell lists, character creation, advantages, disadvantages, and items unless otherwise stated are the property of the GURPS people. Anything not from them will be attributed to its proper owner. We expect you to do the same. If you would like to use something from someone else, we suggest asking their permission and then attributing it to them. Using another person’s ideas without attributing it to them is both illegal and despicable. Violators of the forum will be warned if the plagiarism was unintentional and banned if it wasn’t.
--Romance: There will be no flirting, hooking-up, romantic chatting, or “lonely hearts” discussion on our boards. Period. Anyone engaged in these activities will be warned and then banned if they continue.
--Usernames and Passwords: You may not give your username or password out to anyone. Remember, if they post as you, the rest of the board will think it is you. It can demean your reputation and cause you to be disliked. If someone gets hold of your password or username, let a mod know at earth3006mods@yahoo.com and we will change the password to a different one so the other person cannot access your account. If we find someone has given out their account, we will delete that account. If you then wish to rejoin the board, you must convince the mod staff that you should be allowed to rejoin.
Rules of Posting:
--Board Content: This board should be appropriate for anyone who is old enough to use a computer. Yes, we really mean that. No swearing beyond “gosh,” “darn,” and “crap”; no sex or sex-related talk or jokes; no excessive violence; no dismemberment, etc. Try to write as if your eight-year-old sister was looking over your shoulder. Anyone violating these rules will be warned and then banned if they continue.
--Pictures: Hotlinked pictures are fine as long as they do not violate any of the rules of the forum. Violators will be banned without a warning first. Immodest or distasteful pictures violate the rules.
--Links: Feel free to link to other sites as long as the sites hold to the standards of this forum. Understand that the staff of earth3006 are not responsible for the links; however, if we find objectionable links, we will delete them and warn the person who posted it. A second violation will result in banning.
--Grammar/Spelling: Yes, I mean that. The staff of earth3006 (particularly me) has an aversion to people who do not take the time to post properly. By properly, I mean: capitalized letters when they should be capitalized; no abbreviations like “r,” “u,” or “l8r.” Words should be spelled out and punctuated correctly. These rules will hold firm in the RPG part of the forum especially and hold a little looser in the general talk forums. Posts must be intelligible without having to decipher through garbled speech. I don’t mind things like “lol,” “rofl,” or smilies. I just don’t want to see “hi pEps i’m new nad dnot knw who to spel but i’m a lot of fnu. C U L8R!!!!!1!1” Violations will result in a suggestion, then a warning for the next violation, and finally with the standard penalties for further violations.
--Spam: In this forum, we have a very loose hierarchy (see the Announcements Board for a full description). With such a system, posts become very valuable. However, you may not “spam” to obtain a higher post count. Spam is defined as “unnecessary posts with nothing to contribute.” It doesn’t mean every post you do has to be over 10 sentences; it simply means posts like, “I’m bored…so I’m just posting something.” Out-of-character games which involve spam will also not be allowed. Any spam found will result in a warning, deletion of post, and a post count deduction for the spam post. Further violations will follow the standard penalties. Excessive spam may result in banning.
