Al&Al,
I was examining your system with member titles for various ranks, and it just seems redundant to me.
To modify Person X's member title, you modify their post count. But on that same page is a box that gives you the ability to just alter their title directly. It requires the same number of steps to obtain the same result, but doesn't give them 10-gazillion posts in the process. Plus, should someone actually rack up enough posts, they'd jump jobs!
So...just noting that.

Yeah, I know it seems kind of confusing, but let me explain...
The member titles gained by post count are registered by the board. We have two as-yet-unseen-by-Recruit categories: Terra Centra (Home of the Government) and North America (Home of the Resistance). If we use post counts, we can restrict access and visibility of these categories to only people of that affiliation. For example, when Hataru-chan became a Resistance Member with 1000+ posts, she could access the Resistance board. When Antinomy became a Government Agent with 6000+ posts, she could access the Government board. This way, everyone can only access the board they are affiliated with. And we spaced the titles 5000 posts apart, so it will take a while for someone to actually jump jobs.
We did it this way, so the secrecy of each category is preserved. Another option was passwords, but they didn't allow you to password an entire category, only specific boards. So there are reserved boards in the hidden categories for high-ranking officials, which are passworded. But the post count is a way for us to allow people access to previously unreachable boards.

Well, that's pretty slick. Good stuff.

...so what happens when you do jump ranks?

We'll probably expand the gap between titles when people start getting close to the next title.

You could also adjust the person's post count. i know that's kind of bad to some people who love racking up posts. but it might be the way to go...anyways, you won't have to worry about that for a while.
